Cheese on Toast


  • 6 thick slices of rustic bread
  • 1 stick of softened unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons of English Mustard
  • 14 ounces of shredded Cathedral Vintage Cheddar Cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Preheat the broiler to high.
  2. Place the bread on a sheet tray and spread butter on both sides of each slice of bread.
  3. Place on the bottom rack of the oven and toast the bread on each side for 2-3 minutes or until lightly browned.
  4. Remove the tray and evenly spread on the mustard and then generously sprinkle the cheese on each slice of toast.
  5. Broil in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and lightly brown.
  6. Season with salt and pepper and add on additional garnish of chopped fresh parsley or chives.
